Baldur's Gate 3 is the highly anticipated third installment of the iconic RPG series developed by Larian Studios. The game is set approximately a century after the events of Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal. One of the significant changes introduced is the turn-based combat system. Baldur's Gate 3 picks up about a hundred years after the events depicted in Throne of Bhaal, the expansion to Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. The story begins when a Nautiloid, a ship of the Illithids (Mind Flayers), appears over the titular city of Baldur's Gate. Before the mysterious riders on dragons can drive away the aggressors, they lay waste to part of the city and capture many residents aboard their ship for a horrifying process known as ceremorphosis. This process involves infecting the victim's brain with an Illithid tadpole, which gradually consumes it, eventually replacing it entirely and transforming the victim into an Illithid.
