Destiny 2: Lightfall is an expansion for the online FPS Destiny 2, introducing a new location in the form of a futuristic city, along with a substantial campaign, a wealth of cooperative missions, an additional game mode, and new powers previously unseen in the game.

The expansion takes players to a futuristic city located on Neptune, known as Neonuma. This location becomes the target of an assault by the forces of The Witness, also referred to as the Voice of Darkness. Lightfall follows the traditional expansion model, focusing on delivering fresh content without drastically overhauling the core mechanics of Destiny 2. It introduces new locations, weapons, and armor, and also raises the level cap.

However, it does bring some new gameplay mechanics to the table. Lightfall offers three new subclasses, one for each class, allowing players to harness a new Darkness-based power that enables them to pull threads from the fabric of reality. Titans can become Tyrants, using energy claws to sever enemies from their power source. Warlocks can choose the Architect subclass, manipulating the moves of their enemies. Meanwhile, Hunters gain access to the Threadrunner subclass, enhancing mobility by allowing them to swing between buildings on an energy thread.
