Extinguishing torches, crouching in tall grass, and timing movement around patrol light cones are core stealth mechanics. This is the most technically developed stealth system in the AC series to date.
• Seasonal open world: The map transitions through four seasons with visual and gameplay changes. Snow in winter creates tracks that enemies can follow. Cherry blossom in spring affects visibility. Seasonal changes are not just cosmetic, they directly alter how each area is approached.
• Spy network and base building: Players build a hidden village as a base of operations and recruit agents to gather intelligence on targets. Intelligence gathering determines what information is available before approaching a mission area, affecting how many optional objectives and entry points are revealed.
• Sengoku period historical setting: The game is set during the late 1500s Sengoku period, featuring historical figures including Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Yasuke himself. The recreation of feudal Japanese architecture, castle design, and regional geography is the most detailed in the series.
