The Sims 3: University Life - Origin Code (Global) | Sims 3 University Expansion

The Sims 3: University Life is EA's 2013 university expansion for The Sims 3, adding a full campus world, social group system, and degree-linked careers. This Global Origin code activates the expansion on PC via the EA App (formerly Origin) with instant email delivery, at a price below the EA Store. This expansion requires The Sims 3 base game to play. If you're looking for a Sims 3 University code or the Sims 3 University Life expansion key, this is the complete DLC with all campus content included.

About The Sims 3: University Life

The Sims 3: University Life is the ninth expansion pack for The Sims 3, developed and published by Maxis and EA, released in March 2013. It adds the Sims University sub-world, a separate neighbourhood Sims enrol in for one to two week terms, attending lectures, joining social groups, and living in dorms or rented housing. The expansion introduces three social groups (Jock, Nerd, and Rebel), each with a unique influence system that unlocks group-specific traits, skills, and hidden careers. Completing a degree with a high GPA grants career bonuses, unlocking higher entry levels in linked careers. Young Adult, Adult, and Elder Sims can all enrol, making it accessible across the age spectrum.

Key Features

  • Sims University campus world: A dedicated sub-neighbourhood Sims travel to for university terms. The campus includes lecture halls, dorm buildings, a student union, bowling alley, quad areas, and off-campus housing. Sims can live in dorms (shared accommodation managed by the game) or rent a house with other students.
  • Three social groups — Jock, Nerd, Rebel: Social groups are influence-based systems rather than fixed assignments. Sims gain influence with groups through relevant activities — sports for Jocks, science and gaming for Nerds, protest and street art for Rebels. High influence unlocks group-specific traits, social interactions, and hidden career tracks.
  • Degree system with career bonuses: Sims choose a major from six fields: Fine Arts, Communications, Science and Medicine, Technology, Business, and Physical Education. Graduating with a high GPA grants a career boost in the corresponding career track, allowing entry at a higher level than a Sim without a degree. Degrees do not block careers — they accelerate them.
  • New skills and activities: University Life adds the Street Art skill (graffiti murals and stencils) and the Science skill (experiments and inventions on campus equipment). Social activities include juice pong, bowling, bonfire parties, and protest events unique to the campus world.
  • New careers unlocked by social groups: High Rebel influence unlocks the Underground Artist career. High Nerd influence unlocks the Video Game Developer career. High Jock influence unlocks the Sports Agent career. These hidden careers are not available without reaching influence thresholds in the corresponding social group.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between Sims 3 University Life and Sims 4 Discover University?
Both are university expansions but for different games. Sims 3 University Life adds a separate campus sub-world Sims travel to for term-based enrolment, with the social group influence system (Jock/Nerd/Rebel) and group-specific hidden careers. Sims 4 Discover University (2019) uses a similar structure but integrates with the Sims 4 ecosystem and updated game engine. If you play The Sims 3, this is the correct expansion. If you play The Sims 4, you need the Discover University DLC instead.

Does this Origin code work with the Steam version of The Sims 3?
No. This is an Origin/EA App code and must be redeemed through the EA App. It is not compatible with the Steam version of The Sims 3. If your base game is on Steam, you need a Steam-compatible version of this expansion. Check which platform your Sims 3 base game is installed on before purchasing.

Do Sims keep their degree benefits after returning from university?
Yes. A Sim's degree, GPA performance, and social group traits are permanent and carry over when the Sim returns to the home world. Career entry bonuses apply when the Sim joins the degree-linked career track after graduation. Social group traits (such as Rebellious, Jock, or Nerd traits unlocked through high group influence) remain as permanent character traits. Sims can enrol in university multiple times to earn additional degrees if desired.
